Blocked scheme QR Code
Schemes we refuse to generate: javascript, file, vbscript, jar, chrome. You can scan and verify one, but you won't find it in our generator.
What is a Blocked scheme QR code?
Some link types can run code or open local files rather than just open a webpage or show text, javascript:, file:, vbscript:, jar:, and chrome: are the ones we mean here.
Why these show up at all
Nobody issues these deliberately for legitimate use in a QR code you'd scan from a stranger. When they show up, it's usually a mistake, or an attempt to get a scanner to do something the person scanning didn't expect.
The standard behind it
These are ordinary link types used elsewhere in computing, running scripts, opening local files, browser-internal pages, they're just not appropriate inside something you're meant to scan and trust from an unknown source.
Why you can't generate this here
The scheme can execute code or read local files. We deliberately never produce these.
You can still scan and verify one with our free QR checker.
Frequently asked
Can I make a Blocked scheme QR code with a generator?
No, on purpose. We refuse to produce a code carrying one of these link types, regardless of what's asked for.
Can I check whether one I received is genuine?
Yes, that's what our checker is for. check.qr.abundera.ai will flag a code carrying one of these schemes so you know not to trust it.
