What is a EU FMD / SecurPharm QR code?
A pharmacy serialization code on European medicine packaging lets a pharmacist confirm a specific pack hasn't already been sold or reported as invalid, catching counterfeit or diverted stock before it reaches a patient.
Who issues it
The pharmaceutical manufacturer assigns the identifier when packaging the product, and registers it with the national medicines verification system for that market.
The standard behind it
The EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) requires this serialization. Verification runs through SecurPharm (Germany) and equivalent national systems, all connected to the European Medicines Verification System.
Why you can't generate this here
The identifier is minted and assigned by an issuing authority or registry (a tax authority, health ministry, or goods-serialization registry). It can be checked, not manufactured by a third-party tool.
