How PayPal QR Codes Work
A PayPal QR code encodes your PayPal.me link — a personalized URL that lets anyone send you money through PayPal. When someone scans the code, it opens your PayPal.me page in their browser, where they can enter an amount (or see your pre-set amount) and send payment using their PayPal account, credit card, or debit card.
This is different from PayPal's own in-app QR feature. Our codes link to your PayPal.me page, which works for anyone with a browser — they don't need the PayPal app installed.
How to Create a PayPal QR Code
- Enter your PayPal.me username — the one after paypal.me/ in your personal link.
- Set an amount (optional) — pre-fill a specific payment amount for fixed-price items or services.
- Customize and download your QR code with your brand colors or logo.
Where to Use PayPal QR Codes
- Small businesses — accept payments at farmers markets, pop-up shops, or craft fairs
- Freelancers — include on invoices for easy payment
- Nonprofits — donation collection at events or on printed materials
- Restaurants and cafes — tip jars or table tents for cashless tips
- Street performers and artists — accept tips without carrying a card reader
Frequently Asked Questions
Do people need a PayPal account to pay?
No. When someone opens your PayPal.me link, they can pay with a PayPal account or as a guest using a credit or debit card (in supported countries). They don't need the PayPal app installed.
Where do I find my PayPal.me username?
Log in to PayPal and go to paypal.me. Your username is the part after the slash — for example, if your link is paypal.me/johndoe, enter 'johndoe' as your username.
Does Abundera charge any fees for PayPal QR codes?
No. We generate the QR code for free with no fees. Standard PayPal transaction fees still apply to the payment itself, as set by PayPal. We have no involvement in the transaction.
