What is Mercado Pago?
Mercado Pago is the payment arm of Mercado Libre, the dominant e-commerce platform across Latin America. It handles QR-based in-store payments, online checkout, P2P transfers, and bill payments for over 50 million active users in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, and Peru. Each country uses a slightly different domain (mercadopago.com.ar, mercadopago.com.br, etc.) but the QR/URL format is unified: a short-link that resolves to a payment screen in the app.
Where to find your URL
- Open the Mercado Pago app and tap Cobrar (Receive Money).
- Pick the QR mode (static or dynamic). Static QRs accept any amount; dynamic QRs lock to a specific amount and expire.
- Tap Compartir (Share) and copy the link. It usually looks like

Compatibility
The re-encoded QR works in: Mercado Pago app (all LatAm countries), Mercado Libre embedded checkout, Pago Fácil agents, Rapipago, MODO (Argentina interbank wallet), and any Visa/Mastercard QR-enabled scanner that recognises Mercado Pago's URL family.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take a fee?
No. We re-encode the URL Mercado Pago issued you. The payment routes entirely through MP's infrastructure.
Will my QR work in all LatAm countries?
The URL is country-scoped (the .com.ar / .com.br / .com.mx domain) but the Mercado Pago app handles cross-border scans by routing the user appropriately.
Static vs dynamic QR — which should I generate?
Static (Cobrar Permanente) for repeat use at fixed locations like a market stall. Dynamic (Cobrar Único) for one-off transactions with a locked amount and expiry.
Can I use this for Pix payments in Brazil?
No — that's the Pix QR type (separate). Mercado Pago in Brazil supports both Pix and the MP-native QR; pick the right type for your link.
What if MP issues me a long URL not starting with mpago.la?
Paste it anyway. We pass-through any URL. The Mercado Pago app recognises its own URL family by domain.
Is the link transmitted to your servers?
No. Generation runs entirely in your browser.
Can I add a logo to my MP QR?
Yes, via the Style tab. We auto-bump error correction to H so the logo doesn't break scanning.
