What is a Mexico CFDI QR code?
A Comprobante Fiscal Digital por Internet (CFDI) QR code appears on Mexican invoices and receipts. It links back to a record filed with Mexico's tax authority for that specific transaction.
Who issues it
Mexico's Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) assigns the folio fiscal, a UUID that uniquely identifies the invoice, when the issuing business files the CFDI.
The standard behind it
CFDI is Mexico's mandatory digital invoicing format. SAT's own verification tool checks a code's UUID, tax-ID values, and totals against what was actually filed.
Why you can't generate this here
The identifier is minted and assigned by an issuing authority or registry (a tax authority, health ministry, or goods-serialization registry). It can be checked, not manufactured by a third-party tool.

Can I make a Mexico CFDI QR code with a generator?
No. The UUID only exists once SAT has recorded a matching invoice. Generating one ourselves would just be a code with no invoice behind it.
Can I check whether one I received is genuine?
Yes. SAT publishes a free online lookup for CFDI UUIDs, and check.qr.abundera.ai will read out the values printed in the code.
