Unlike the iCalendar QR (which encodes a static snapshot), a webcal:// subscribe QR points at a hosted .ics feed. Calendar apps that handle webcal:// links add the feed as a subscription — new events appear automatically as you update the source file.

Which apps support webcal://?
Apple Calendar (iOS + macOS), Outlook, Thunderbird, Fantastical, BusyCal. Android's Google Calendar needs a separate add-by-URL flow.
What's the difference between webcal:// and https://?
webcal:// is a magic URI scheme that triggers 'subscribe' behavior instead of 'download and import'. The underlying transport is still HTTPS — we just replace the scheme.
Do I need to host the .ics file?
Yes — this QR points to a URL you control. You can host .ics on any web server, including GitHub Pages, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, or a CMS.
